Presentation (orthographics, three-quarter views, variants, design callouts)
You present vehicle designs with consistent views, labeled parts, and readable variants so anyone else can build or model them.
What it is
Presentation means laying out your drawings so a client, modeler, or fabricator can understand the design without guessing. That usually means a clean hero view (often three-quarter), supporting orthographic views (front, side, back, top as needed), and callouts that explain what each part is and how it works.
The three-quarter view is where you sell the idea: pose, attitude, and the vehicle's overall character. Keep it clear, on-model with your orthographic views, and free of tangents or clutter. Use value grouping, line weight, and sometimes minimal color to separate major parts, windows, and key design beats so the whole thing reads in a second.
Orthographic views are the necessary blueprint angles: true proportions, wheelbase, heights, widths, and the mechanical relationships a 3D artist or engineer relies on. Keep them straight, clean, and aligned to each other so anyone can cross-check measurements by eye. Match details between views: panel lines, door hinges, exhausts, hardpoints, weapon mounts, and more.
Variants and options are shown on the same page or a small set: weaponized vs. civilian, different trim levels or equipment loads, alternate wings or cargo modules. Instead of redrawing from scratch, keep the core structure consistent and change only the areas that matter, labeling what each variant is for.
Design callouts are notes for the next person in the pipeline — small zoom-ins or arrows pointing to features: where the suspension compresses, where refueling happens, how the cockpit opens, how a wing folds, what materials or surface treatments are used. Cutaways or ghosted lines clarify what can't be seen from the outside.
A presentable vehicle sheet reads from general to specific: the big view gives class and purpose at a glance, the orthos reveal function on a second look, and callouts and variants reveal mechanisms and options up close. Anything that could be misread is clarified in another view or a small sketch and label.
Why it matters
Without solid presentation, a good vehicle design falls apart once someone else has to use it. Ambiguous views cause off-model 3D, mismatched proportions, and broken mechanics. Missing callouts mean doors, hatches, or hardpoints end up in the wrong place or don't work. Poorly handled variants make a coherent vehicle family look like unrelated designs. Clear presentation is what lets your concept survive a production pipeline without constant back-and-forth.

- ✓Your page layout makes it obvious what the main version is, what the variants are, and how they differ, without needing you to explain it in person.
